When I first started putting my shop together I watched every Wood Whisperer and Stumpy Nubs video I could on YouTube. I chose this project because “hey – how hard can following a template be?” Turns out, it can be pretty challenging… at least for me anyway. I found this template from a prior years “Woodworkers Fighting Cancer” build that Marc and Nicole put together every year and figured I’d give it a shot.

A few things I learned:

1) Baltic birch plywood is NOT the same as cabinet grade plywood (this project is cabinet grade. I wanted bb so it would be awesome to have a natural wood finish.)

3) Take my time on set up. Yeah, cutting and using the tools is super awesome and fun but mistakes and fixes take wayyy more time than being thorough on set up.

4) ALWAYS sand with a respirator in a well ventilated area.

5) Don’t be weird about involving other people to help. Sanding, painting, building… awesome family thing to do.

6) much, much more!

Thanks for taking a look. I have one more project on the bench that is 1/2 way done. Then, it’s shop Organization time so I can be more efficient!

I made similar project once too, but not even close to design and colours you came up.

Like the design, nice job! I just received an order for some play furniture for the Grangirls play house so might borrow that internal storage idea!

Awesome x 10!!! This project turned out GREAT!!! Really fun, really beautiful, really good job too! I love the angles of the wood so much…I don’t prefer hard edges/straight angles, so this is my cup of tea. I really love everything about this project, and the fact that it’s sized for kitlings is just the best! :) WELL DONE! :)
