With the addition of our parents old LP collection I needed to build some record storage cabinets. Just like my appreciation for antique hand tools, sometimes older is better… or at least more fun. I built these rolling end table/record cabinets out of some re purposed rough sawn lumber for that “rustic barn wood” look. It is a fun challenge to try to maintain as much of the rough oxidized edges as possible while still needing to flatten at least 2 sides so I could cut accurate mortises and tenons for the joinery. Only finish I used is a little dark Briwax on the edges that I had to cut and plane so they would blend in with the rest of the rough sawn parts. Got a sweet deal on some Stones albums this weekend gotta take them for a spin.

I really like it. Great job in preserving the old look of the lumber.

Great looking build the rough sawn lumber really adds to the look.

I love spinning the old black circles. Seems to just sound better.

First off, you have got to be the only guy on this site lucky enough to get an Emmert from mom. Now you get their album collection. Nice work on the end tables.

Have your say...
