Sometimes kids have a way of showing you how well you are doing as parents . Last month my oldest daughter turned 12 and for her birthday she organised a fund raiser birthday party to raise money for to help Haiti. She told all of the guests to donate online instead of bringing a gift. The affaire was catered by a friend of mine who is a chef and about 20 per teen girls sang and danced to a karaoke machine. She raised over $ 800 that night! Then she organized a bake sale at her mother’s work and made over $ 300! This jewellery cabinet is part of a raffle she wiil be holding at her school. Her goal is to reach $ 2500 Canadian ( sorry could not resist) to give to Habitat For Humanity. I am very proud of her.

The cabinet is Mahogany with Walnut inlay stained with Cabernet red and finished with 5 coats of sprayed lacquer. ( which is not cured yet and will be polished with wet 3000 grit).
Thanks for looking.

Great job. Love the diamond plates under the handles and on the lid. I am sure the auction will be a great success. Your daughter sounds like she is a very caring outgoing young lady. You should be proud.

Keep it up.

Really nice! I made something very similar to this from a magazine (Fine woodworking?).

You did two things right. The way you obviously raised your daughter and the way you built this piece! BRAVO!!
