Been pretty busy lately, haven’t had much ‘shop’ time. Made 3 of these board games, everybody seems to enjoy them quite a bit, young and old alike. This one is 1” ceramic tile epoxied onto 1/2” plywood. The surrounding frame is oak and maple. The blockades are beech, approximately 1/4” x 2” x 1”. Danish oil used on all exposed wood. “Soldiers” are turned from cherry and mahogany. Object of the game is to move one square each turn to get to opposite side of board. Each turn may be used to move one square or place one blockade. The opponent can never be totally blocked off from getting to the last row, just obstructed. Similar in strategy to chess but less complicated and much quicker, usually 10-20 minutes. More info on the game can be found (if you’re interested) at wikipedia. I’m going to try to make one of Corian when I get some more shop time. Thanks for looking. Keep the shavings flying!!

that looks really cool..

curious why you wouldn’t just run a groove down the material with the saw instead of gluing a whole lot of small pieces of tile?

Also, ever tried playing 4 players? going in both directions?

Really cool looking game though, might try to make one myself :)

I come from a family of game players so I am always interested in making games for them. This looks like an interesting game. I’m adding it to my favorites so I can come back and look at it as the Christmas season approaches.

b.t.w. – I like your workmanship. Very nice.
