Gun safe hidden in the wall. Since I don’t own any guns, I use this safe for all my documents. It might not be the safest place for brilliants or gold but it has planty of space for my documents :).
It made from scraps and leftovers.
Originally, I wanted to cover it with small pieces of wood that you see in the middle, but it was taking sooooo looong, that I decided to take a shortcut and added larger pieces of wood.
Wood: oak, walnut, ash, cherry, pine, and probably spalted beech.
Finished with acrylic varnish.
Size: 65”x17”, 165×44cm.

Cool! I was expecting the whole panel to move like the old safe behind the painting thing – this is much more likely to fool a thief. Thanks for posting.

Clever, but now we all know where you are hiding your documents… evil laugh… actually its a very nice piece of decor. Good work

BenDupre, now you just need to find out in which country I live (not in US), which city, street, and so on. Plus, those documents have no value to anyone else except me, unless someone wants to pay my bills, they are in that safe too :).

It looks very nice and people are just going to think it’s a work of art instead of a secret door. Nice work.

Brilliant! Love the design, this is equal parts art and function.

What hinges did you use to allow the door to swing “out” (away from the wall) as far as it does?

Thank you Jeff! It’s a system that used in bathrooms.
Look at the pictures.
