My wife was making bread for my daughters lunches and needed a quick and easy way to cut the loaf into even slices so I came up with this design. I assembled the pieces of oak with screws and cover them up with dowels that were sanded flush. I had to cut the slots in the guide sides with a circular saw blade in my table saw to get the right gap width for the bread knife we had. I made an insert that the knife can cut into and possibly be replaced after prolonged use. After everything was sanded and smoothed I dipped them into mineral oil so they would be food safe and protected as well.

I like. I purchase unsliced bread and this jig will add to my cutting enjoyment.

Cool bread slicer. I make bread on occasion and this would be a nice addition. Thanks for sharing.
