I made the writing center out of 1/2 in ply. The cylinders are glued up 2×4’s turned on a ricoh mini lathe. The crayon boxes are cherry with walnut splines and 1/4 inch cherry ply.

I made these to sit exactly in the cup holders and support the writing center.

I made a video at the request of a friend of mine to share so is dad could see how they look so he could replicate them.

If you would like to know more about how the two projects work together, you can watch the youtube video at:

Other than the crayon box, these are not super fancy, they just work. The kids are entertained with learning activities instead of video games and dvd’s when we travel.

Best regards,

Really cool idea! We do a long road trip every summer. I’ll have to get working on some of those.
