I had made a scissor lamp a while back and used it as a base to make a scissor arm for my tablet. I just built a built in bookcase in the bedroom and I attached the arm to the edge of the bookcase and it extends far enough to hold the tablet while I am laying in bed. The wood is Maple and Elm. The dowel is Oak from Home Depot.
The strips are 1/4 inch x 1 inch x 14 inches. Each pivot point uses a 1/4 inch bolt with three flat washers and a nyloc nut. It extends out about 40 inches.
The tablet I have is an iPad and it holds it well.

Nice little accessory. Can you show pix of the iPad attached?

Very well done. I would also like to see a pic with the tablet attached, in service, so to speak.
Thanks

Thank you for all of the comments.
Because of where it is mounted it was difficult to get a good picture of it with the tablet mounted. It is attached to the side of the built in bookcase but since it is not complete yet I have not posted it yet.
The bookcase has LED puck lights at the top but it is really difficult to get a good picture with the lights on. I still need to make a cover for the top to cover the wiring.

I have got to try making something like this! A very cool idea.
