Grandson Ian was over, and he wanted to build a box, so we went into my shop and found some maple and padouk scraps, then designed and sized the box to fit the material. I also had a few pairs of small hinges and some scraps of refinished maple plywood for the bottom (cutoffs from drawer bottoms that I had made for one of the closet projects), so I purchased nothing other than the small felt pieces that are on the bottoms of the feet and the inside of the lid. I finished it with rub on polyurethane, and then I ran it over the Beall buffers.

I love that design, and the contrasting colours.
Great job between the two of you.
Thanks for sharing.
Bob.
-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Can’t wait till my grandson grows up and gets interested in woodworking. Nice box.

Nice box! But even better that you did it with your grandson and are passing this craft down to future generations.

Great job. I’m sure he will keep it forever. I bet he will want to be in the wood shop every time he comes over now. That’s a good thing!

Sandy, grandchildren projects are the best. Looks like the two of you had fun turning scraps into an interesting box May you both keep boxing and keep posting.

Very nice. I can’t wait until my sons are big enough to make some sawdust with me in the garage, too. Kudos!
