This is a Banksia pod I got at Rockler in Denver the other day. I did a hollow turning on it my first. I don’t have a hollowing tool. So I had to do it with a parting tool and my long curve round nose. It was fun but I think I will invest in some hollowing tool before the next one. I got the only because it looked cool.

Banksia is odd stuff. I’ve had it very hard and another soft & fluffy…I have no “real”hollowing tools either..but there’s more than one way to skin a banksia!

hey gar nice piece, if you are looking for hollowing tools kelton makes a nice setup easy to use and durable. also if your in the denver area there is a local turner named pete holtus who makes and sells his own hollowing tools on the front range. keep them comin.
