I had a old hand saw laying around my garage, it was part of larger saw that the tip broke and the handle started to rot, so I decided to try to make a new handle. The first attemps didnt go very well and I decided to try again with a harder wood. I ended up chosing hollow (azinho) basically it that tree that gives olives, but everybody uses its wood only to burn and theres a reason.. That wood is so hard, I must have spend around 4/5hours shaping and sanding but it stays really nice with vanish, almost a leopard skin type of finish.
There’s the project video, and feel free to share your tips & opinions

Good job, Helder. Do you like the feel of it? The wood looks awesome!

Love it, the wood is really dense so its heavier than expected for a handle, but balances everything when sawing

Nice job restoring an old tool. I love doing this myself. You choice of wood for the handle looks really nice.
