This is the wood I picked out at Woodcraft the other day. The only thing I didn’t like is after I got into it there were some checks. You can see this in the pictrues. I wanted to make the walls a little thiner but was afraid it would blow out. Anyway I think it looks cool. The bowl came out of a 3×6x6 blank. It ended up being about 5 5/8×2 5/8 and 2” deep inside. I ‘m getting better and faster, but still slow taking my time. I think I’m getting the idea on how to do this.

it´s beautyful wood you have chosen
and you are right you will bee better
every time but don´t hurry too much
or they will fly around you very fast

Then grain is lovely, a bit like almond. You guys have a lot of materials which are not easily availiable in europe. Nice bowl

I’ve got a similar sized block from WC, how did you find the turning. For me it seems almost as rough to turn as cocobola. I’m finding that I’m going through sharpening more often and had quite a bit of tearout.
