i designed this little desk as a place to sort and store our mail/bills. it’s mainly walnut with maple for the accents and drawer boxes. there’s also a little bit of mahogany in the writing surface inlay. all the veneer on the desk front is maple burl. the drawer dovetails are all hand cut, which was my first attempt at that. the front carving is a stock compucarve design. there’s no real symbolism to it, i just liked the look of it.

That must take a little confidence or some skill to attempt handcut dovetails for the first time on a project like this. Well founded confidence I think because just look at the results. Good work.

I like the look that the Lion gives this piece. Are you using the compucarve artwork to do handwork, or are you using a CNC to do the carving? Either way, cool looking.

Very nice desk,
