a simple pencil case…. honest. i like to do drawings and designing so i treated my self to some decent pens and pencils and decided to make the draw unit…. unfortunatly some work collegues decided that it was easyier to take from me and use my equipment without asking…. :( so i have recently made a outer box with a lockable frount . both boxes are ply carcuss with a sawn oak veneer about 5mm thick glued and fixed to make it look pretty.. its very simple in design but looks fancy. both boxes finished with a hard wax .

That dark flowing line around the drawer fronts is a real craftsman’s touch. And I though I had a lot of marking tools.

That’s an AWESOME pencil box! Mine live in the top center drawer of my top tool box (the auto repair one) along with the soapstone for welding, etc. I’ll have to move them to the woodworking toolbox once I get my shop (~60 Sq Ft of a garage) straightened out. Of course, my pencils are currently only carpenter’s type. I have some mechanical pencils that could live in one like you made, but they stay in the house, hidden from the family.

I know this is an old post but AtomJack just brought it to the top. It reminded me of a time when I worked in a factory where the desks were shared by the clerks across three working shifts. The 2nd shift gal always complained that people were stealing her pens and “stuff”.
Her husband made her a nice decorative box which was lockable and cold be put on a shelf behind the desk when she was off.
About the 3rd day someone STOLE THE WHOLE BOX! We never did find the culprit….

Very nice and a good design. That could just as easily be a small tool box or a box for various kinds of collections. Nice work.
