Used some rough walnut to make the box. Filled a couple holes with epoxy. The tray is ambrosia maple scraps with purple heart which slides on maple rails inside the box. The bottom is floxed sp? but I had news paper taped so dust from sanding didnt get on it. several coats of laquer so far, but I am planning on wet sanding, before using fine steal wool and waxing for a smooth finish. Had a very tough time trying to find spray laquer. Every paint shop was like ” yea we have laquer thinner.” or well the closest place you could get that is 2+ hrs away… eventually I’ll find it, but for now I used brushing laquer (deft) tried minwax and hated it. Any suggestions on a good brand that is accessible? thanks for looking

Beautiful job. Beautiful box.

Believe it or not, Wal-Mart carries Rustolium and Watco brand clear lacquer in spray cans.
