I built this box as an anniversary gift for my fiance. It is the first bandsaw box I have built (assembled?). It is made of a lightly spalted maple that was cut on the family’s backyard sawmill (it wasn’t supposed to be spalted but after the log sat in the backyard for three years I got a great surprise when we started milling!).
It turned out to be really helpful having two bandsaws in the shop. I was able to set up one saw with a 1/2” blade and fence for all of the straight cuts and a 3/16” blade for all of the curved work.
After a fair amount of sanding I finished it with a high-gloss laquer which looked great but I don’t have any pictures. Yes i could get it from my bedroom but once I give my fiance a gift I am not allowed to take it back (her rule, not mine).

It’s beautiful! I have enough trouble with straight lines. Can’t imagine how difficult curves must be.
