Made a pair of these as a commission for a local client that I did a tv stand for last year. This was designed to match the stand and unfortunately the stain came out lighter than on the tv stand. Even though I used the same stain and wood I still got different results. I tried to apply additional coats but I could not get the stain to darken up. This is why I am moving away from using pine and stains for my future projects. Nevertheless I contacted the client and she was okay with the stain as it was.
Construction is mortise and tenons where the mortise and tenon are open at the top. I’m not sure what this joint is technically called. I pinned the tenons with dowels for extra strength. The top is thin pine that I laminated onto ¾” plywood.
