Using some scaps I had in the shop, I turned a bowl from the Spectra ply block (black, red). I didn’t like the exposed edge of the ply, so I then segmented walnut around the outside. Intention was to make a chopping block for an old Ulu knife that I had. However, now I think the spectra will be too soft for effective chopping block, so it probably will be regulated to a serving bowl.
Challenge was to get a good fit for the segmented pieces surrounding the round spectra which I turned first.
Finished with 3 coats Behlen’s salad bowl finish.

I think it will be hard enough, all cutting boards get cut up.

Very nice, kind of mind blowing effect.
