I built this shooting board for my Veritas low angle jack plane but you can use whatever plane you want. It’s adjustable for both the 90 degree and 45 degree fence so you can always have a fresh zero clearance. video explains this better…

Got to make myself one – after I get a proper plane of course.

Good video, thanks for posting. Guess it is time for me to “get around to it” and make one. LOL

Like many have said, really nice shooting board and yes, it’s time to make one for my bench. Just wondering if I’d be better getting the Veritas miter plane or the jack plane. The miter plane has a nice shooting horn and wide side plates. Any opinions?

Edit: See they also have a shooting plane. That is obviously dedicated to this task, whereas the miter plane and jack plane can serve other duty. Need some insight.

I’d go for a shooter because I’m not a fan of planes without a cap iron.

Not sure what you mean Fridge. The shooter has a skewed blade at 20 degrees which is probably nice for this, but they all have cap irons. Do you mean chip breakers? They’re bevel up so no chip breaker.

I d go for a shooter because I m not a fan of planes without a cap iron.

I’d go with a L.A. Jack, You can just so much more with it. IMHO!
