The lumber storage marathon is finally over!

I finished the first leg of the race a month or so ago when I completed the lumber rack and storage bins: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/28409

Now I finally got a quiet Sunday and quickly went to Lowe’s to get plywood and 2×10’s to start on my sheet goods rack. I knew exactly what I wanted as I sketched it in my mind for at least a month. It had to be strong, had to fit a rather large stack of sheet goods and it had to tuck in against the wall when it wasn’t in use.

Taaadaaa! What I imagined came to life!

I was able to get two wheels off a large heavy-duty cart from a local business that was throwing the cart away, so those were taken care of – the only other hardware needed was two heavy strap hinges I also picked up this morning. I would say the entire project cost less than fifty bucks!

This thing rolls like it’s on a pillow of air – even with 200 pounds of plywood in it!

Finally – I can arrange my garage the way I want to!!!!

Very ingenious! I love it. Sheet goods storage is a huge problem in my small shop. This definitely gives me some good ideas. Nice find on the throwaway wheels too. :)

That’s a nice wood storage rack. Thanks for showing it off.
