Had a lot of fun building this a couple years ago. The first two pics show it as it sits today with a two year age, the last 4 are pics I took after finishing it. Built it off a picture my wife handed me.

looks fantastic, what did you use for finish? I was looking at some pics of my bed right after I completed it (also requested by my wife- 10 yrs ago) and its amazing how cherry darkens so nicely over time.

Jimmy,

thanks for the remarks.

I used teak oil on the bed. I like to stick to the oils, and let the wood change over time.

Like the looks of this one. Fav’d it.

What did you use for the rail to headboard/footboard attachment?

Looks awesome – like the lines a lot!

The side stringers – are those solid cherry? Is there a different species inside? Just curious, hard to tell in the pictures.

Thanks!

Good eye, I glued ash to the inside. From the top it appears that the stringer is solid Cherry. The stringers are 12 inches wide, and I didn’t want to waste that much cherry wood that no one would ever see.

Have your say...
