Here’s a couple tools I picked up saturday at a local flea-market, both were rusted pieces of rust when I started, but with a lot of wire brushing, filing, and lapping on the plane, they shaped up over the weekend, and a quick coat of paint have them looking and working nicely. I was amazed by how well the chrome levercap on the plane cleaned up, in the first picture you can see the painted body reflected in it, clear as day! The tote and knob were painted black, I expected to strip them down and find some ugly, cheap piece of ash or maple, but I was happily surprised to find beautiful rosewood. For $5 and about 5 hours, I’d say I got a good tool. As for the saw clamp, I saw it and just had to buy it, I’ve never sharpened my own saw, and I’ve always wanted to, I figured this is a good start.

That looks real nice. I’ve been wanting to restore a couple of my planes. They work fine, but they show their age. Plus I think I’d enjoy the process. Good job!
I like that saw vice too. My dad used to have a Foley Belsaw automated hand saw sharpening machine. I used to watch it move slowly down the saw. It was fascinating. I’ve never sharpened a saw by hand, but I can see how a vice like this would really help out.

Looks very good, i think i should go to the flea-market and start to search. Had some planes that are in good condition, but they look by far not that good as yours.
