This cookbook stand was a Christmas Gift to my sister-in-law. First, I must give credit to ScottMorrison and Canadian Woodworks on LJ for inspiring my design. I wish I would have had more time to devote to my project to obtain perfection those builders’ music stands are at, but I was battling a clock and I probably don’t have quite the patience necessary!

The stand is made of curly maple, a cherry base, and walnut details. It has three different tilts possible by pulling the pin near the hinge. The brass chain is to weigh down stubborn pages that want to turn and they can be hooked below the stand or hang free depending on how stubborn the pages are.

The project is finished with a boiled linseed oil/polyurethane mixture to bring out the figured maple and topped with a semi-gloss spar urethane.

Thanks for looking and God bless!

A very nice design. I am sure your sister-in-law was impressed. Makes me want to be your sister-in-law.

Well done.

Awesome and specific design, very well made. I like those ‘octopussy’ legs.
