It has been a while since I have done any wood working due to moving around the country and not having a wood shop. However, that is over now. This Breakfast bar is made from air dried Red Oak wood and we will have to see if it behaves. This was a live tree not so long ago. I used tung oil because it was easy and very forgiving. Forgiving was a good thing for me at this time as I do not have a great situation for doing finishing just now. However, it has gone fairly well for what it is. It is good looking, strong and durable. That is good because kids will hang on it (like they are not supposed to) and will spill everything imaginable on it. Yep, they will too. And when they do it can be cleaned, lightly sanded and refinished again in a heart beat. I try to make things for real people to enjoy.

I have read a lot from people in here and you all reminded me of the tung oil. I have not used tung for at least 30 years. I have enjoyed many of your posts.
