A friend wanted a built-in for her bathroom that would fit into a poorly used space. She had found the hamper kit online and received two quotes from local companies. When I found out about the project I volunteered to do it for less money. She knew I could use the cash in my tool budget and that I’d deliver exactly what she wanted, so it was a win/win. This was my first paid commission.
I matched (not exact, but close enough) the molding to her existing bathroom vanity using three different bits. The hamper kit was interesting – the scissor arms keep the door in any position you leave it at and it’s soft-close. I took two trips to her condo for measurements to make 100% sure on everything before starting construction and Sketchup was used to communicate the proposal. 3/4” sandeply with plenty of bracing made it strong and it slid into the spot perfectly. Once painted it looks perfect in place and she was thrilled. The best part, though is that I got a new Festool 75 track saw out of it. ;)

Carpentry skills are things with which I’m not afflicted. I do admire them when I see them.
