This is made out of cherry and walnut, with maple and padauk scraps for the gift-wraped lines across the corners.
It’s 26×16 and just under 1” thick.. The size of it made cutting the flipped corners off difficult, this thing is wider than my saw and I had trouble keeping it steady so the glue lines are a bit ragged next to those thin strips of accent wood, but otherwise this was a fun project. Like the cutting board it’s sitting on non-sliding stick on pads.
The finish was cured by Valentines day which worked out well and was a nice edition to what I had bought my wife. Below is the wonderful dinner she prepared – Red Snapper and Lobster salad. She’s very talented in the kitchen, it has become her hobby. Now she can stop using the cutting board I made her to roll out and knead dough on – it was way too small for that purpose, and not handy when we also need to cut stuff.

Next up I’m starting on a coffee table that will match the bookshelf I built, and then on to a dining room table.

That’s a project worthy of a great dinner.

Wow, I don’t know what looks better, the board or the supper. Both look yummy.
