Another recent project. The crocks needed a proper home. Poplar wood constuction, slightly distressed painted finish.

Great piece, very nice antique look. Is that milk paint?

Thanks Jon,
It’s a couple of coats of thinned out leftover latex paint, a coat of General Finishes Van Dyke Brown glaze and a couple of coats of minwax wipe on varnish. I think !! I’m always messing with and trying different finishes to get an old worn look.

Well, I definitely think you’ve accomplished that look. I’ve been experimenting myself with distressed finishes, unsuccessfully, but I think the glaze is the missing ingredient. Thanks for the tip!

Great!

Did you do something to the hinges?

I left them on when I painted and varnished the bench.

When my wife see’s your pieces she will either put me to work, or contract you to build them for her. Very nice work.
