I finally got my lathe set back up after rearranging the shop so I made my first attempt at a mallet to get a “wood chip fix”, I had no real dimension to go by so i just winged it. it weight is a little over a 1 LB. I think I want to make another that weights a little less as well. the wood is Maple cut from a tree I downed about a year ago, I came across the log when splitting wood for the fireplace I spared from the fire and since have been digging out all of the maple from the wood pile with the intent of making something else.

wood chip fix or sawdust fix (Slang) to create small particles of wood in order to satisfy the desire to build something from wood using (hand or Power) tools.

Used in a sentence “Honey I’m going down to the shop for a”

Nice job on the mallet.
