I had an idea of creating this and didn’t know it would be as difficult as it was, but it all paid off in the end. The hardest part of it had to do with working from the base part of the mane upwards. I used 1/4 inch plywood and stacked it on top of itself until the very last piece of the nose. In all there are 11 levels to it with the twelth level being the completed work—which completes the 12 tribes. After that it was just sanding and staining. It now hangs above my fireplace mantel as a reminder to me that i can create beautiful art.

Amazing. I’m a scroller, so I appreciate the amount of work that went into the Lion of Judah…Irie
The only thing that bothered me is the peripheral piece to the right of the face, at about 4 o’clock. It doesn’t flow with the rest of that side.

Erwin,
Maybe I am being picky. I really like this project, but that one piece bothered me.
This comment area is not just for praise…it’s also for critique. I don’t comment on too many projects here, and when I do, it’s because I thought it was something special.
When I post a finished project, I enjoy the positive reinforcement, as well as critique. It helps us grow as woodworkers.
Welcome to LJ

This is what I consider the perfect use of your gift. Not only did you tackle a challenging project and do it very well, you also bring glory to Him in doing so. I absolutly love the whole idea. Super great job. Be blessed!
