This mud room bench was born out of necessity to accommodate my son’s 3 little ones. Thanks to some great advice from a few Lumber Jocks friends I was able to overcome chipout during the planing process, and was able to come up with a nice finishing procedure for the final touches. The carcus is painted plywood. The bench is Ponderosa Pine finished with 2 applications of mahagony stain and 6 coats of a polyurethane/mineral spirits mixture. Joints consist of rabbits or dados. There will be a super structure added in the near future, but that’s another projects.

Great use of space here. Did you relocate your washer and dryer?

Thanks for the comments. We stacked the washer and dryer in the corner. The cabinet to the left of the bench is a trash cabinet with shelves for storage, and access panels so that the laundry equipment can be maintained. Planning on making a small removable box to hide the dryer vent.
