Getting ready to celebrate Boxing Day Eve, so what better way than with boxes?

The first is dovetailed walnut and apricot with a curved top and pull with a reversed curve. Kind of has an Asian flair, though that wasn’t in my mind when planning the build.

Second box is also dovetailed and is made from quarter sawn sycamore and walnut. Both of the first two have angled sides and were my first foray into angled dovetails. Once I had an accurate understanding of how to do them correctly, they didn’t take much more time than straight dovetails.

Third box is a cherry and maple jewelry box with a small slider on the inside.

Last is a walnut and Baltic birch bank made to look like a kid’s building block.

Lumber was ripped and resawn with the band saw and thicknessed with a lunchbox planer, but after that all the work was done by hand. I definitely figured out that I’m not a box maker. These were quite a bit of work, but I’m looking forward to giving them to family for Christmas.

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy.
