Rustic Style Red Cedar Carved Signs

Rustic Style Red Cedar Carved Signs, these are just a couple of simple signs I made up lately, I had a red cedar “The Man Cave” sign hanging on the front of my shop door, this past month I had alot of people stopping and wanting one, then the other day I had a lady stop in and wanted one customized with her husband’s name and a UT Longhorn on it. I thought that was a good idea so I made her one, I did not have any burnt orange paint so I used some copper flecked paint, I think it turned out ok. Then I got to thinking, well us men have our man caves so I came up with one for the woman, hehe “The Cougar Cave” heck you never know it might be a big hit, especially nowadays.

Anywayz I marked these up with chalk which I find works best, flatten the end good and it is about the width of your router bit and if you don’t like it just sand it with a sanding block and start over, and then used a 5/16 v-groove bit set back just a little, painted the letters flat black in the grooves, finished with BLO….that’s it, I did one in unfinished Elm so people would have the option to stain it to match their decor.

Hey if any of ya’ll have a good idea for a catchy slogan on a sign lemme know…
