The technical term is called a “raised dog feeder”. I call it “Drago’s dining table.” I’d figured I do a little something special for him as he has always kept me company in the shop. Prior to that he was using a cardboard box with 2 holes cut out.

Built last October with a sheet of 2’ x 8’ laminated pine. It is put together with pocket-hole joinery & glue. It’s finished off with 4 coats of rub-on poly to ensure Mr. Sloopy Mouth doesn’t damage the wood with his drool.

In November (1 month later), we decided to switch him over to a raw diet (B.A.R.F.) to be exact. Comprised of all raw meat with 1 to 1 ratio of meat to bones. A little more expensive and alot more prep but I see a lot of improvement. Being the finicky eater he is, he’s now actual excited before feeding time. Coat is much healthier, and no more digestive issues every 3 weeks. If you have a dog that has allergies, digestive issues, or just one of those breeds with a week stomach, I would highly recommend raw food. Just remember don’t feed them in your kitchen. You don’t want blood & guts all over your kitchen floor. [email protected]! :)

Very nice, but I love the dog’s name better!

Beautiful dog. I’d say he’s plenty worth the extra effort.

Please scratch him for me, huh?

Nice dog. How did you know the proper height. My Labrador looks about the same height but my bowl is lower. To low I tihnk. I was just wondering if you chose your height based on something you read somewhere or was it a guess.

Oh yeah, nice feeder also.

Nice feeder. My little doggies (small papilions) would starve if their food was this high off the ground. Maybe I should try this. Don’t tell my wife I said that.

Thanks for the comments.

Rex – I believe you should measure up to your dog’s wither (shoulders), then subtract 6 inches and that should be the height of the feeder top. I didn’t go quite that high as any height from the ground would be an improvement.

Many ppl believe that since dogs in the wild eat from ground level, then it should be okay… I agree, but hey, 1 + 1 = 2 right?; I like making things from wood; 1 like to spoil my dog; drinking water from that level reduces the pond of water that accumulates on the floor. Oh yeah, BTW it really helps your dog if it’s in their senior years, with either hip/shoulder issues, or arthritis. They don’t have to bend down as far.

Rich – that’s hiarious~! I love all dogs even the little yappy ones that like to chew at your ankles. I seriously believe the smaller they are, the bigger their kahonas~!

Nice dog feeder. I just finished one for a friend. My wife said she thought it looked like a portable two holer.
