I wanted to do a little something different with my deer I got back from the taxidermist this year. Instead of making another flat wall panel I decided to think outside the box. So I went with a floor pedestal made from reclaimed oak barnwood, has plexiglass on 3 sides of the base and a recessed light to shine down into the enclosed cabinet to display another skull mount I had. I used an old fence post I found in a brush pile on our place for the mount to hang on. It was actually a pretty neat find. The post had been hewned on 2 sides with an axe, maybe it came from an old log barn at some point and reused as a fence post? Who knows, but I thought it was neat. I finished it off with some rusty barbed wired, leaves, pine cones, moss and some wheat to enhance the look. Very happy on how it turned out once it all came together.

That is truly wonderful. You should be happy with how it turned out, it’s great.

I love this. I just had my first buck go to taxidermy. This would be a great idea for it. (if my wife would let me) Thanks for posting. Hope you don’t mind if I steal the idea for myself.

Great looking stand. Buck looks darn nice too. I like the skull mount in the bottom also. Only thing I’d change is I’d put an arrow (or part of an arrow) in the bottom with the skull.

Incredible idea for display! Classy presentation!
(Yes, I will probably have to borrow that idea if you don’t mind…)
