There have been some really great projects on here lately that have been a lot of fun to look at and keep me motivated to improve. This box was built upon a request (order) by my girlfriend :) She wanted a box to store old postcards and letters in. She requested no finish on the box and the inside to be left wide open.
I chose Walnut, Purple Heart and Maple.
The walnut lid took quite a while to hand plane, getting the right look with no finish was driving me nuts. I then hand sanded the sides going up to 320 grain, when I felt the best unfinished look was presented. The purple heart inlay was created with a standard dado blade and then I routed out 3/8in in the middle of the walnut bottom for the box to snugly fit inside.
Thanks for taking a peek and any comments, suggestions or areas of improvement are always welcome!

I like it but not sure what I like best – top, middle or bottom, I’ll bet boxguy will have some insight
