Table Trivets

Keeping to the theme of quick projects I’m doing lately (and trying to use up scraps), I decided on what becomes of every cutting board that ends up too small.

A trivet! (or two)

These are typical end grain, about 9”x7”x1”. The woods are walnut, hickory, and white oak, the “runners” are white oak and the finish is mineral oil.

The rails are splined into the sides so the end grain section is free to expand/contract.

These work well on a table to keep a hot dish off of the table or table cloth.

Thanks for looking!

Well done—good use from the scrap box too.

You gave me an idea with the word runners.

Make a trivet to look like an old fashioned wooden kids snow sled.

I like the sled idea, very seasonal!

Have your say...
