The black walnut in this rolling pin has been cut 25 years and does not like to turn. Is all black walnut this hard or is it because its so old?

Hey Yarydoc,
By the way, what does that mean? Do you fix Yari’s? I have one that needs some work.
As for the Walnut, I think it depends on where the wood has been stored. I am using some virgin cut timber now that spent the last 100+ years in a house and the wood that was exposed to high heat like attic spaces seems to be very hard. It could also just be that it was cut from a very old dense tree.
