It’s amazing what happens to a tree during it’s life. The box is a birthday gift for our daughter-in-law, which she loved.
A 1.5”X16”X38” unique piece of curly maple was given to me by a woodworking buddy who found it in a scrap pile at a saw mill. After resawing it into .75” usable slabs and then planed to .5”, this is the results. The maple is outlined with padauk, at least I think it is (gotten from same buddy). Side note, my shop will never be the same after working with the red wood. I applied 3 coats of water base poly and several applications of wax.

Beautiful rounded shape.Nice combination of red and white colours. Drawers are very cute.

That is some amazing wood! Made for a beautiful jewelry box. I bet she really did love it. That wood was found in a scrap pile? Shame the rest is in a pallet somewhere.

very very nice jerry,great design and wood combo,and ill vouch for your thought that its padauk.actually one of my favorites.i just love how it smells.excellent job,who wouldnt love it.

What a beauty! That sure looks like padauk! I use it a LOT and my shop looks like a cayenne pepper accident!
