My wife wanted a rustic looking headboard for the guestroom bed, so what could be more rustic than scrounging wood from a pallet, right.

A couple pallets contributed to this. A mixture of some really nice looking Red Oak, White Oak, Maple, & Cherry. She loved the knotholes and nail holes.

The picture with the black curved paper was a piece of foamboard from an old project of hers. Traced out a pleasing pattern, and folded it in half to cut out the curve so it would symmetrical. Traced it on the boards (put together with pocket screws) and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Sanded it all down and smoothed the edges, then one coat of Golden Pecan stain. Just enough to give it some depth. Three coats of satin Arm-R-Seal. French cleat on the back to hang it on the wall.

Last picture shows it in the room, and I’m the hero of the day. :-)
