Clipboard made from old bleachers
This past summer (2016) the competition gym at my school was removing the old bleachers that were installed in the 1980’s. They were to be replaced with molded plastic ones. I asked and received permission to obtain the old stock for usage in my woodshop classes. I was able to reclaim and store 75% of the softwood (Southern Yellow Pine—-I think) in my shop storage room at school. As a gift for the boys and girls basketball coaches, I made them each a clipboard. Only one is shown since they were both identical. The finish is Hillyard Gym Floor finish. That stuff is extra glossy and really durable.

I was interested in this project when I saw it on one you tube video. I only had doubts about bending this plate over time. I soppose if it is thick enough it is secure for bending, but again not to thick. How thick are your board?

5/16” seems to be a nice thickness
