I came across the perfect valet box for my son which I discovered here by fellow LJ Blackie (Thank you Blackie!). I liked the size, the open top and of course, the hidden compartments. This box was built out of cherry with wenge accents. I used wipe on poly for the finish.

My son moved to Michigan about a year ago. I wanted to give him a reminder of home for his apartment. He was a really was surprised when I presented it to him. That’s the kind of thing that keeps me building!

Very nice like the process pics, this is a very neat box when first saw it liked it by LJ. You did a great job like to try this style one day.

AJ, what a nice build. The pictures of the process are well done as well. Blackie has worked at this design, perfecting it over a period of years, and keeping others on LJ in the loop as he worked and posted. It is nice that others can benefit from his hard work. Sharing is what this site is all about.

I like your choice of woods and the pulls. Gifts to children, no matter how old they may be, are always a rewarding part of craftsmanship. It makes woodworking projects special. Keep boxing and keep posting.
