The first two are Tycoons. The red is dyed box elder burl, the second is amboyna burl.
A co-worker of the friend I made the red one for had a knock off MontBlanc and he wanted me to make one the same color but use the cap off his pen. So I modified a European style pen and this is what we ended up with.
I’m using my home made shadow box for the photos.
A good way to pass a cold weekend.
Thanks for looking.

Nice pens. How about showing your homemade shadow box you used for the pictures.

Duane: I tried to get Calvin to lend me his transmogrifier so I could put the shadow box in the shadow box to take a picture of it but he told me Hobbs is using it for some sort of stimulus program. You’re from Iowa like the male side of my family so I guess you’ll understand.
It’s been a while and I’ve gotten rid of the link for the instructions. Basically, I took a box about 2’ x 2’x 2’, cut holes on three sides leaving 2” borders. lined it with white foam board, got 2 yards of the cheapest linen I could get at the yard goods store and two lights from HD. Drape the linen inside to diffuse the light. Voila. Cost was less then $10 and 7 of that was the lights. Leave the front hole clear so you can move the camera wherever.
Google “Camera Jim” to get some ideas.
