now that should be a limited edition of a monopoly board! is it just me or does it kinda look like a swastika from the shade of the wood or is that the light? other than that kudos!

I agree, very cool, but perhapse a little more forethought about the balance of light and dark grains, swastika was the first thing that cought my eye on the main page. but anyway, a very nice project.

ok in her defense it does look like a swastika., which was not at all intentional, we had to look at the actual monopoly board a few times to try to keep that out of our heads, but we hadnt discovered wood dyes yet so we only had so many colors of wood..lol had we discovered the dyes prior to doing this it would not have looked the way it does, but it is copied from a true monopoly board…could be a good conspiracy theory tho…lol

to be fair the swastika is still used as a religious symbol in hinduism, buddhism and jainism. it was a well used positive symbol for thousands of years before the nazis started using it

well i didnt even notice the swastika until it was all glued together, and a layer of shellac on it. so i guess if people see it they see it, but i guess since im the maker, i know what each piece of wood is for, and why the design is like how it is.. and if some dont like it, they dont have to look at it.. lol.. its just one of those things.. but thanks everyone for the great comments.

typically badges and and based flags had a right facing swasika at 45° on both sides and naval flags had a through flag which showed right facing on one side and left on the other
it is interesting to note that the actual use of the swastika by german military originated many years before hitler came into power as the swastika was known as the symbol for the aryan race
also the actual origin of the swastika is believed to be the drawing of an ancient comet. many civilizations all over the world had drawings of the symbol some dating as far back as 7000 BC
sorry i like ancient history :)
and crazy4wood i wouldnt worry about it at all, i think your monopoly board is pretty sweet and didnt even notice it until mark mentioned it
Have your say...
