Just completed this desk for my adult son. Based on student desk plans from Kreg I made a few changes.
Added the feature at the bottom to give a better look. They are actually removable risers because he wanted it taller than standard and I wanted him to be able to change it in the future if he had a different need. I laminated 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood for the top, added a drawer, wide keyboard tray, and made the shelves adjustable. He also wanted the back open to get good ventilation for the computer, so I face framed front and back for strength.

Wood: 3/4 Purebond birch plywood, poplar hardwood for framing.

Tools: Table saw, circular saw, kreg jig, drill, sander, band saw

I included the picture of the finishing stain and topcoat FYI because it turned out looking really nice.

I kike that design. Looks very efficient and easily adjusted to fit other needs. That stain color turned out great.

Looks good.
Smart idea to face-frame both sides since you don’t have a back to tighten things up.
Well done.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I cant really call this “fine” furniture, but it is my first venture out of the rustic type and it was fun.
