This is my entry for the Yin Yang contest.
It is a pair of bowls made from PurpleHeart and Maple. They are 3 1/2 diam X 1 3/7 tall. When together they make a Ball 3 1/2 diam. Finish is 4 coats of hand wipe polly and 3 coats of wax.
For the Yin Yang part of this:
I have allways believed that we are 1/2 of a hole when we are born. During our journey through life we search and struggle untill we find our other half. The better side of us. The gentler side, the more compassioinet side, the other half of our souls.
I have been lucky enough to find my other half. My wife is my best freind. My Soul Mate. My Better Half. She is the part of me that was missing, and I am hers.
I know she has brought warmth and completeness, into my life and I into hers. We are in Harmony with each other and those we encounter, now that we are whole. That is the meaning of the Yin Yang. The 2 halves becomeing one.
I made the bowls to represent the 2 of us. Each one is part of the other. (Maple and PurpleHeart) Each one is ONLY a bowl, but, together they complete the circle and become spherical. A circle in ALL directions. You can pass from the light to the dark and still return to the light. All sides lead to the other and back.
I made this for the contest but also as a Valetines gift for my wofe. I want her to allways understand, Just how much she means to me. She is my light in the darkness, and I will allways be hers.
Please leave all comments and critiques. I am allways open to suggestions.
Thank You for looking, and VOTE FOR ME!!!!! Please!!

Great idea, I really like how well the wood grain matches between the Purple heart and maple. Good luck in the contest.

And even if you don’t win the contest, I think you have won some major brownie points with your wife here!

If I could vote twice, you’d get them both, one vote for each bowl. Nice work!
