Coffee cup ring box

This project resulted from my wife needing a place to put her ring when she washed dishes —so she would not lose it. The cup itself is elm as far as I can tell and the saucer is maple. The top is wenge and the handle is walnut. the “steam” rising off the wenge is represented by painted dowels cut and re-glued. The finish is mineral oil. The challenge of this project was top turn the cup and saucer in a pleasing proportion which I think I accomplished. Anyway it is something different to add to my box making and wood turning skills.

Thx

Oh, steam.
I thought they were supposed to be cigarette butts.

Very cool and nice looking ring box! I originally thought this was for an engagement ring—would have loved to see the look on the bride’s face when she got this thing!

I thought someone had stubbed out joints on your project. :) Good work.

Very smart idea for ring storage and it will fit good on kitchen desktop.
