I’ve got this box design stuck in my head, and every time I go to the lathe this is what I end up making, compulsively. I feel like the guy in Close Encounters of The Third Kind, shaping my mashed potatoes into a model of Devil’s Tower.
Each one has evolved a bit from the last, so maybe soon I can make the “perfect” one so I can move on with something else. Or maybe the aliens will show up and give me all the answers.
I have a bunch of these now and I’m getting tired of looking at them.
I think I need therapy.

Great work!
I can see why it would get stuck in your head, the design is mesmerizing…

Now I’ve got Richard Dreyfuss playing with his mashed potatoes stuck in my head.
I do agree that it is a mesmerizing design so I can understand how it gets stuck in your head.
Love the Star Trek quote by the way! :)

Whatever the compulsion, they are wicked cool. I’d love to see a description of how you made them.

I think that it’s looking good. You have done a nice job on it. How many do you have?

Thank you all for the nice words of encouragement. The previous boxes I’ve posted never got this much attention here, though I’m not really sure why. Maybe turned boxes aren’t that popular on this site. I dunno.
I’ve made about 7 or 8, but I’ve given away a few. The box itself is a rather complex build and each one takes me a few days to do, mostly because I’m slow. If there were enough interest, you could contact me on Facebook.

Thanks all for your interest.

That is a very “Interesting” design, and I really like it.
I can understand how it is stuck in your brain.
I like to never create two things the same but sometimes a new idea takes a “RUN” over several pieces.
Thanks for sharing.
Bob.
