Beautiful wood grain and colours. I like wooden hinges and dovetails.

Impressive! Looks like you have spent a long while practicing dovetails – it shows in the box. Taking on such tiny dovetails on your first project is terrific.

A beautiful box indeed. ... I really like the wood combinations, and your dovetails? well you really hit a homer there. ... Are those shop made hinges? ... Outstanding.

Yes, I decided that putting brass hinges would detract from the wood, so made the hinges from jarrah on a finger jig.

Thanks Charlie, they are inset halfway. I used them not only because I think they look better than brass, but because they stop the lid from falling back past about 95 degrees. I made a batch of them while I was on a roll.
