This 3 point bowl started out as a cube and was mounted corner to corner in a lathe and turned.
An insect hole in the original cube was partially preserved in the finished bowl. It can be seen on one upper edge in the finished product.
This bowl came from a tall Sycamore tree that had been topped and left for months. This spalted wood is from the upper area of the tree that was exposed to the weather and began to spalt and be infested with insects.
The bowl measures 7 3/4” X 5 3/4” and is finished with a satin lacquer and beeswax.

This bowl is a collaboration between nature and the wood turner who crafted the form the wood should take.
