I’m only posting this project because I want to show another LJ member some spalted sycamore. This is 2 pictures of the same bowl. Actually, I don’t know if I should call this a bowl. It could be a tall, skinny bowl or a mug without a handle or short and fat vase. It is what you want it to be.

Thank you Rich. Now I see the difference. The one I turned has a couple of the black lines running around in it but I think you are dead on the money with the burl call. I’m learning. Just gotta keep saving firewood and maybe I’ll figure it all out someday. And I like your signature. I didn’t create any beauty either but I sure let some of it see the light of day.

-- JoeR Nothing that I could make will ever be perfect but I'll use it anyway.

Nice looking bowl you do awesome work. I read your comment to charlie 58 about having a easy rougher with those carbide tips you can replace. I wanted to know what you think of it? I saw the videos and i am wanting to purchase one because i just ordered a midi lathe. And i want to turn pens and small ornaments.
